In June 2023 webinar, Erika Thiem, Feeding America COO, gave a preview of the grants and subsidies that are being proposed to the Board for FY24. The Disaster Services team talked about their role at Feeding America, helping to provide support to the network, before, during, and after disaster strikes. The Feeding Tampa Bay Operations team talked about their best practices for being prepared, and carrying on their work, when they are impacted by disasters. We also had a live demo of the 2022 Retail Opportunity Report, from a Business Data Analyst at Feeding America.

April 2023’s Food Industry Partnerships webinar featured Feeding America’s Food Safety team, Wayne Melichar and David Barowsky touched on code dates, prepared foods, labeling, Food Code, OTC products, pet food, cannabis, recall and withdrawal processes, and seafood HACCP requirements. We also welcomed four food bank guests, who presented on their successes and best practices for sourcing to excess and sharing those surpluses in the network, using “cluster” food banks, MealConnect, Choice, and disaster relief.

February’s Food Industry Partnerships webinar featured an in-depth discussion about Blue Receipts, and the receipting team, Laura and Tasha, answered frequently-asked questions about what they are, why we do them, when they’re due, why they’re different than Yellow Receipts, and more. Diane Letson shared information about the Supply Chain org chart and FIP Liaisons, as well as information about the Food Donation Improvement Act, an update on the Global Cold Chain Alliance partnership, and a “Food Sourcing Call to Action”, for accessing more donated food. The GPP team invited Michelle and Pat from Tyson Foods, to speak about their holistic partnership with the network, and their Protein Purchase Program (chicken drumsticks!). We also shared information about the Round 2 Retail Agency Capacity Grant applications, as well as Grocery Purchasing Program subsidy information.
