This learning and workshopping session is for anyone (food bankers, community partners, neighbors) engaged or interested in work to address the root causes of food insecurity, working at the community level, and exploring the changing role of food banks. Much of the work to address the root causes of food insecurity and change systems and structures takes place at the community and local level. As food banks and their partners deal with the greater complexity, they are trying to understand their evolving role as partners in the community. In this session, we will ask the question – what shifts are required at the food bank level to create the space for community-based work? Food Banks have been exploring what it takes and will share their learning on topics like: being open to learning and vulnerability, building and repairing trust and relationships, and leadership through convening and listening to the community.
